Expert Witness / Consulting
The common denominator in Dr. Alzate’s multiple professional roles is violence against women and children. Sometimes it has been inflicted upon the people she works with directly, or they have witnessed violence, or it was inflected upon their ancestors. In addition to violence within the home, community violence, gang violence, war, or gender- based violence have been a theme particularly among female asylum seekers. Most of her work, both clinical and academic, has focused on women’s and children’s welfare.
